Therapy Modalities

I use a variety of therapy modalities and work creatively and collaboratively to find the right fit for you. Below are some of the main tools I utilize in treatment:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): EMDR is an evidenced-based treatment to heal past traumas. It is a method designed to help your brain become "unstuck" from the past and process material that was unable to process at the time the trauma occurred. When our brains do not process events, relationships, and painful memories as it needs to, one can feel stuck, as if those past experiences are still occurring today.

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): DBT is an evidenced-based treatment designed to offer skills to assist with interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotion-regulation. The foundation of DBT skills rest on learning mindfulness skills. Mindfulness is a skill that involves "re-training" the brain. Our brains are often focused on many different things at a given time. Mindfulness is learning to slow our brains down, focus on one thing at a time, and learning to stay present in the moment. This skill will transcend to learning new skills appropriate for your life. DBT skills are life skills that are often missed for many people growing up, due to a variety of circumstances, and can greatly enhance anyone's life.

LI (Lifespan Integration): LI is rooted in EMDR and serves to not only heal past wounds but also to build integration of one's life and create a stronger sense of self. LI is effective in clearing past traumatic memories, building a stronger core self, and working with early attachment wounds. The foundation of LI is to utilize a timeline of your life to navigate through past memories. LI is a gentler approach than many trauma therapies and is created as a means to bring healing without re-traumatizing.

Therapy is currently offered primarily online. Limited in-office appointments are available.

For the safety of you and I both, masks are required for in-office visits.
